Franklin H. Kettle, Managing Director of Colchester Partners LLC, has 23 years
of experience in transactions in the investment management industry. At
Colchester, Mr. Kettle is responsible for executing all aspects of client
engagements, including buy/sell assignments, assisting clients in the
development and execution of ownership restructurings and management succession
plans, and providing other types of strategic advice.
Prior to the formation of Colchester Partners, he was Executive Vice President
of the United Asset Management division of Old Mutual plc, an international
financial services firm headquartered in London, England. In that position, he
was responsible for the development and execution of strategies with respect to
over 30 investment management subsidiaries that were acquired by Old Mutual in
connection with its acquisition of United Asset Management Corporation ("UAM")
in September of 2000. During this period, he was responsible, together with
Messrs. Ramrath and O'Brien, for the divestiture of 12 investment management
subsidiaries.
From 1986 through to the acquisition of UAM by Old Mutual, Mr. Kettle was an
officer of UAM, last serving as Executive Vice President, Director of Corporate
Development. UAM was a NYSE company and one of the largest independent
investment management organizations in the world with over $200 billion in
assets under management. UAM provided diverse investment management services to
institutions, mutual funds and high net worth investors through the more than 45
operating affiliates it acquired or established in the United States, Canada,
Europe and Japan.
At UAM, Mr. Kettle led the Corporate Development Group, which sought suitable
acquisition and merger candidates through a constant calling program on the
universe of domestic and international investment management firms. His
responsibilities included identifying appropriate prospects, transaction
negotiation and structuring (both domestic and foreign), and relationship
management. Mr. Kettle also was a member of the firm's management committee and
a leader of the team responsible for subsidiary operations. He had direct
responsibility for UAM's relationship with several of its larger subsidiaries.
His activities included business and strategic planning and executing UAM's
annual operating plan.
Prior to joining UAM in 1986, Mr. Kettle was a manager in the commercial audit
division of Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Kettle joined that firm in 1981 and worked
in their Boston office.
Mr. Kettle received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, cum laude with
honors, from Middlebury College in 1979, and a Masters Degree in Business
Administration (Finance and Accounting), with honors, from the University of
Chicago Graduate School of Business in 1981. |
