Gregory S. Dimit, Managing Director of Colchester Partners, LLC has 22 years
experience in transactions in the investment management industry. At Colchester,
Mr. Dimit is responsible for executing all aspects of client engagements,
including buy/sell assignments, assisting clients in the development and
execution of ownership restructurings and management succession plans, and
providing other types of strategic advice.
Prior to joining Colchester Partners, Mr. Dimit was the Managing Partner of
Dimit & Associates LLC, a consulting firm serving the investment management
industry. From January 2003 through September, 2003, Mr. Dimit was a founding
partner and Chief Operating Officer of a 12 person quantitative hedge fund firm.
From 2000 through 2002, Mr. Dimit was a Managing Partner of Dimit & Associates
LLC and Budden Dimit, Inc., also a consulting firm serving the investment
management industry. While employed at Dimit & Associates Mr. Dimit’s
engagements included mergers and acquisitions assistance for both very large
firms and start-ups, acting as Chief Investment Officer for a $1.5 billion life
insurance company, advising a venture capital firm on investment management firm
back-office technology investments, structuring phantom equity programs for
subsidiaries of multi-national investment management firms and providing
marketing consulting services to investment management firms.
From 1991 through 1999, Mr. Dimit was an officer of United Asset Management
Corporation (“UAM”), last serving as Senior Vice-President. UAM was a NYSE
company and one of the largest independent investment management organizations
in the world with over $200 billion in assets under management. UAM provided
diverse investment management services to institutions, mutual funds and high
net worth investors through the more than 45 operating affiliates it acquired or
established in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. Mr. Dimit was a
senior member of the Corporate Development Group. His responsibilities included
identifying appropriate prospects, transaction negotiation and structuring (both
domestic and foreign) and relationship management. Mr. Dimit was also was a
leader of the team responsible for subsidiary operations and had direct
responsibility for UAM's relationship with several of its largest subsidiaries.
His activities included business and strategic planning and executing UAM's
annual operating plan.
From 1980 through 1990, Mr. Dimit worked for Price Waterhouse as a CPA, last
serving as Senior Manager. Mr. Dimit was in the general audit practice of Price
Waterhouse, specializing in clients with significant mergers and acquisitions
activity. He worked for Price Waterhouse in Los Angeles, CA; London, England;
and Boston, MA.
Mr. Dimit received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from California
State University, Northridge in 1980. |
